A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and in these days of sitting at video games and staring at mobiles, children’s need for analog imaginative physical activity has never been greater.

After a warm up of stretching and breathing featuring fun elements of yoga and qi-gong, Steve will guide the group through dramatic visualisation and role play, a journey through time and space from animalistic and somatic movement through Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms (flow-stacatto-chaos-lyrical-stillness) to a chance to either dance or play percussion or both.

The session will end with reading a short story in English followed by its dramatic reinactment.

Benefits:
✔️ Freeform physiotherapy
✔️ English language practice
✔️ Rhythmic techniques
✔️ Empathy through theatre

About Steve Teers

Following an adolescence in numerous school plays and youth theatre (with a young Clive Owen), and with a degree in music and dance from London University, Steve has had a colourful career as a professional pianist/percussionist, international documentary maker and recently performance artist. He is currently editing a film about Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms, a powerful technique of movement therapy.

After setting up La Poiata Retreat in Băla, Mureș, and the subsequent annual BălaFest music and craft festival, he brought his family to Cluj-Napoca in 2019.

In Cluj he has been an active member of movement, yoga and Butoh dance groups at The Hive and Ikwe Yoga Centre, performing in ‘Plural’ at Ziz earlier this year. He is married to the Romanian international hairstylist Georgiana Teers and has two teenage daughters.
